Reality is simple
Law, economics, philosophy, theology, and countless other areas of human life are very complicated.
The more complicated something is, the more experts are needed, thereby removing control from the ordinary person and creating a new hierarchy.
The advances in medicine are nothing compared to the basics of clean water, good diet and exercise. Having friends and a meaningful pastime or work is more real and valuable than quantitative easing, credit default swaps, and bank bailouts.
Love is simple. The “things we do for love” are not. So when we let go of all the dramas and complications we create around love, what we are left with is love itself.
Nature in all its glory is simple and the earth gets along fine without us.
We all have the ‘heart and mind of a Buddha’ within us, it’s just that manmade ideas and beliefs get in the way.
Ending this decade and going into 2011, remember to keep things simple.
That is what is real.
